STATISTICS and PSYC 202WQ
All declared psychology majors take a two course sequence that includes an introductory statistics course (STAT 100Q or STAT 110Q) followed by PSYC202WQ Principles of Research in Psychology, usually taken in the Junior year. Each of the above courses fulfills a Q course for the General Education Requirements.
Since PSYC202WQ builds on the statistic concepts learned in Introductory or Elementary Stats, it is recommended that stats be taken the semester immediately preceding 202WQ if possible, or as close together as possible.
PSYC202WQ, Principles of Research in Psychology provides psychology majors with the opportunity to conduct a group research project. Students learn research design and analysis, experimental and correlation techniques, and research processes. In this course, students conduct research with student participants and engage in a full spectrum of psychology related research concepts. PSYC202WQ fulfills the 200 level W requirement, one Quantitative Competency or Q course, and the Computer Competency and Information Literacy requirement for Psychology majors.
